Jean-Frédéric Oberlin, the Protestant pastor from Ban de la Roche, lived in Waldersbach for 59 years and died here in 1826. The Oberlin Museum has promoted the work of the 18th century Alsatian figurehead for over 50 years. Oberlin was a visionary pastor, educational pioneer and ardent supporter of social progress who made a real mark on his time. He is still seen as a model.
