Description
Located in a valley in the Vosges Mountains, the former principality of Salm is still home to three abbeys today. Since 2017, the Opercule Brewery has been producing organic and craft beers there. In addition to their work as brewers, the artisans are beekeepers and use honey—a treasure of our mountains—to referment their beers in the bottle. The honey carbonates the beer while softening its bitterness. Although the sugar disappears, it gives way to subtle honey aromas with a floral aftertaste.
The Opercule team offers free tours during the summer: in June and July on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 4:00 p.m., and in August on Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. and Fridays at 3:30 p.m. Contact them by email or phone to arrange a customized tour!
