Dating back to the time when Alsace was part of the Holy Roman Empire, Guirbaden, built in the 11th century, dominates the Bruche valley. At 250 m long, it is the most extensive castle in Alsace and considered one of the oldest. Legends, history and anecdotes will take you back to the Middle Ages for half a day. Departure: 9am, Grendelbruch cemetery parking lot, rue de Rosheim. Return around 1pm. Requirements: walking shoes, drinks, weather-appropriate clothing & protection. Distance: 7 km.
